Extension
Wings add one foot in width to each side of your Trail Tenderizer. The
most typical application is to add Extension Wings to a four-foot Trail
Tenderizer, resulting in a six-foot effective grooming width. The cross
section of an Extension Wing is identical to the Trail Tenderizer: The
compactor surface, comb, flap and teeth are exactly like the Trail
Tenderizer it is attached to.
A
four foot Trail Tenderizer with Extension Wings perform identically to a
six foot Trail Tenderizer with the exception that the Extension Wings
now extend 12” beyond the edge of the four foot drawbar. This does
make the Extension Wings somewhat more vulnerable to tree and object
impact than the stock six-foot machine.
On
the other hand, a four-foot Trail Tenderizer equipped with “Wings”
has tremendous flexibility. As an example, if you have some narrow
“classic only” trails in your system, it is quite feasible to:
-
Detach the
wings
-
Throw them on
the back of the snow machine or on the four foot Trail Tenderizer
-
Groom this
narrow section of trail
-
Return to the
wider trail system and re-attach the wings
Each
detaching or re-attaching of the wings will take 1-2 minutes, on snow.
Another
common application for wings is to use the four foot plus wings
configuration for most snow conditions, and remove the wings for
occasional extreme conditions where the snow machine might bog down.
Extension
Wings may be added to any Trail Tenderizer, 1995 or newer.
